The exhibition, curated by Alessandro Tosi and Flavio Mancuso, brings together some of the Fa’s most beautiful etchings with high fashion. Fattori’s engravings are accompanied by dresses by Emilio Pucci, one of the most original and brilliant names in 20th-century fashion, thanks to the collaboration with the Mancuso-Rauchenberger Archive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ewald Frick. Anatomy of a Scriptural Trace<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition organised by the Museo della Grafica (Municipality of Pisa, University of Pisa) is curated by Maura Formica and Michael Jakob. For Ewald Frick, the world is a text composed of traces ranging from early Christian characters to the printed pages of modern books. In his fascinating work, Liechtenstein artist Ewald Frick weaves a dialogue between texts he has read and objects he has found in the most diverse places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Muselmann <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

16 January \u2013 31 January 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day 2026, the Museo della Grafica will host the Muselmann exhibition. Curated by Barbara Nahmad, the exhibition displays graphic works created by teachers and students of the Brera Academy, inspired by the ‘Diario di Gusen. Letters to Maria’ by the painter Aldo Carpi. Carpi survived the Nazi concentration camps and was director of the Brera Academy from 1945 to 1958. His diary, containing letters and drawings, is still one of the most important artistic testimonies of life in the camps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ippolito Rosellini, Pisa and the birth of modern Egyptology<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

12 December 2025 – 11 January 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This exhibition celebrates the first world’s University Egyptology course held in Pisa, during the academic year 1825-1826, by the young Pisan orientalist Ippolito Rosellini. This important bicentenary aims to highlight the fundamental role of Pisa and one of its most illustrious citizens in the development of Egyptology as a modern discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tribute to Paolo Ciampini<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition commemorates the recently deceased master Paolo Ciampini, offering a journey through his figurative universe via an evocative selection of etched portraits. The works, which belong to the Museum Collections, were donated to the University of Pisa on the occasion of the exhibition \u201cPaolo Ciampini. I segni del volto\u201d (The Signs of the Face), organised by the Museo della Grafica in 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition Pisa Sporting Club. A history in images <\/em><\/strong>– curated by Alessandro Tosi in collaboration with the Associazione Cento-Pisa 1909 Football Museum and organised by the Museo della Grafica (Municipality of Pisa, University of Pisa) in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Pisa, Pisa Sporting Club 1909, the Associazione Cento-Pisa 1909 Football Museum, and the Fondazione Pisa – offers an evocative journey through the different periods of Pisa Sporting Club <\/a>through photographs, objects, posters, prints, and works by contemporary artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guido Canali. Tradition and innovation in architectural design | Pisa Archietecture Biennale<\/strong> **<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the 2025 Pisa Architecture Biennale<\/a>, curated by the LP Association with the support of the Municipality of Pisa, the Museo della Grafica (Municipality of Pisa, University of Pisa) is hosting the exhibition Guido Canali. Tradition and Innovation in Architectural Design<\/em>, open to visitors from 31st October 2025, at 3.30 p.m. Guido Canali, an architect who has managed to combine ethics and moderation, creator of iconic projects in which nature and architecture interact harmoniously, is one of the four exemplary figures to whom the 2025 edition of the Pisa Architecture Biennale has dedicated its \u201cSpecial Projects\u201d, together with \u00c1lvaro Siza, RPBW – Renzo Piano Building Workshop and Paolo Riani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The representation of trees, imaginary landscapes, upside-down cities, and moons gives life to a fascinating interpretation of themes related to nature, surrealism, and perception. <\/strong>The exhibition is part of the general theme of Nature <\/em>and offers a reflection on the relationship between the built and the natural, between balance and fragility, between what man creates and what nature gives back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the 2025 Pisa Architecture Biennale<\/a>, curated by the LP Association with the support of the Municipality of Pisa, the Museo della Grafica (Municipality of Pisa, University of Pisa) is hosting the Special Project Palazzo Lanfranchi with RPBW Renzo Piano Building Workshop Exhibition<\/strong> (October 11 – November 16, 2025), positioning itself as one of the eight venues in the city where the biennial exhibition is taking place. The exhibition recounts the experiences of the RPBW \u2013 Renzo Piano Building Workshop studio and its relationship with the themes of sustainability, public space, and culture; a journey through seven university campus projects around the world, as examples of building dialogue with the landscape, one of the themes chosen for the 2025 edition of the biennale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gatherings and stories. Biodiversity in Botanical Art<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

16 July – 7 September 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Botanical Art exhibition to celebrate the diversity in plant crops closely related to humans, in conjunction with Botanical Art Worldwide 2025.

<\/strong>The 73 exhibits<\/strong>, coming from all over Italy, represent the great variety of food plants<\/strong> selected over time, as opposed to the scarce variety currently cultivated worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plant specimens on display, often ancient and historic varieties, are cultivated in small quantities and are therefore in danger of disappearing. In the context of an ever-increasing global population, profound climate change and habitat loss, the discovery and promotion of plant genetic diversity<\/strong> is of great importance and is conveyed in the exhibition through the beauty of the works, and the commitment and dedication of those who preserve<\/strong> and protect<\/strong> the seeds of our future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Habitus Fidei. the robes of the confraternities: a journey through art, history and faith<\/strong>

The exhibition, curated by Lorenzo Cantoni and Alessandro Tosi, proposes a fascinating itinerary through the history of the confraternities, with particular attention to the robes and figurative documents that bear witness to their meaning and practices. Alongside the robes, paintings, books, prints and other documents relevant to understanding the world of the confraternities are presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cronisti in classe 2025 – a selection of drawings made by the young participants in the Journalism Championship “Cronisti in classe”<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition displays a selection of drawings made by the young participants in the Journalism Championship – 2025 edition, organized by the newspaper La Nazione with the sponsorship of the City of Pisa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This exhibition is part of the many initiatives dedicated to the dissemination of culture among children that the Museo della Grafica offers every month and for which it received the Touring Club Prize of the Consuls of Tuscany for the XIX-XX edition, \u201cLocal Museums and Education for Children.\u201d Its long-standing relationship with schools and the territory is thus renewed in line with the objectives of the University of Pisa’s Third Mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition offers an evocative selection of prints belonging to the prestigious Farnesi collection, made by some of the greatest artists of Japanese graphics, including Hokusai, Hiroshige, Utamaro, Kuniyoshi, Toshikata and other masters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presented concurrently with the Hokusai exhibition at Palazzo Blu, set up and curated by Alice Tavoni and Alessandro Tosi and realised with the support of the Pisa Foundation, the exhibition develops along a path where the dominant theme is the naturalistic one, proposing a sophisticated journey through the art of modern Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition \u2018The Vertical Forest. Photographs by Simona Bellandi\u2019 offers a selection of photographs on the theme of the Pisan Botanical Garden, taken by photographer Simona Bellandi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition, made up of shots taken at different times of the day, formed a highly suggestive installation set up in the stairwell of Palazzo Lanfranchi, offering the public some of the most fascinating views of the Botanical Garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Campo Santo dei Miracoli Pisani: the Triumph of Death and other stories<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

14 December 2024 – 1 May 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This exhibition, commissioned by ALI, the Association of Free Engravers \u2018Luciano De Vita\u2019 based in Bologna, features 90 works that show how the history of Pisan civilisation has offered countless possible openings for the research and creative proposition of 50 engravers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The curators of the project, Marco Fiori and Marzio Dall’Acqua, have suggested to the artists to focus on the Triumph of Death, a grandiose memento mori<\/em> that, together with the Final Judgement and Inferno of Dante’s correlation and the Thebaid, was executed in the mid 14th century by Buffalmacco, one of the most prominent representatives of Gothic art in Tuscany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition captivates visitors by also offering opportunities to reflect on the present time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ultrasky: Discovering the Egyptian Blue from Arts to Sciences<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

21 Novembre 2024 – 9 March 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fascinating journey to discover Egyptian Blue, a material with high sustainability and amazing optical properties, which was forgotten in the Middle Ages, resurfacing sporadically in the Renaissance, only to be rediscovered in the 1800s. In recent times, Egyptian Blue has attracted a great deal of attention, both in the artistic and scientific communities, and in this exhibition nine contemporary artists reinterpret it by declining it in nine different artistic expressions, creating original works that showcase the beauty and versatility of this extraordinary pigment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE ART OF NATURE. Pliny the Elder: 2000 years later<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

18 October 2024 – 6 March 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of the two-thousand anniversary of Pliny the Elder’s birth, the exhibition aims to guide the visitor through the centuries to illustrate the fortune, the influence and the multifaceted legacy of the Naturalis Historia<\/em> and its author.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors will be able to grasp forms, materials, colours and perspectives of that human ingenuity that – as Pliny observed – \u2018by using Art, reproduces Nature\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition, curated by Gianfranco Adornato and Alessandro Tosi, with the collaboration of Alessia Di Santi and Federico Figura, will be open until 31 January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sergio Ruzzier. True stories of cats, mice, foxes and chicks<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

30 October 2024 – 2 march 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This exhibition, curated by Alice Tavoni and Matteo Pelliti, displays original plates from the most recent books that Sergio Ruzzier, one of the greatest contemporary illustrators, has published in Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artist’s irony and poetry pervade the pastel colours of his landscapes as do his unmistakable ink strokes.<\/strong> Thus, in a sequence of enchanting plates, an extravagant microcosm comes to life, where a wise fox is the best friend of an anarchic chick, and a lying mouse beguiles an inquisitive cat with his fibs. A journey through imagination that, if designed for children, will also enchant adult audiences.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artist: Sergio Ruzzier<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in Milan, after his debut in Linus<\/strong> and in Lupo Alberto Magazine<\/strong>, Sergio Ruzzier moved to the United States and established himself as an illustrator. Today he is part of the Sendak Foundation and has recently translated for Adelphi \u2018Bombo-Lardo\u2019 by Maurice Sendak<\/strong>, the author’s last book published during his lifetime. In Italy, in addition to the books published for Topipittori, <\/strong>Ruzzier has also published for \u2018La Grande Illusion<\/strong>, publishing house in Pavia. He is the winner of the Andersen Prize 2023<\/strong> in the \u2018Protagonists of Children’s Culture\u2019 section and the winner of \u2018Nati per Leggere Prize, XV edition\u2019 <\/strong>(2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ATLAS OF STONE. Engravings by Franco Fanelli<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

11 October 2024 – 8 December 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A splendid series of engravings by Franco Fanelli, dating from 1985 to the present days, make up this exhibition, curated by Alessandro Tosi with the contribution of Gianfranco Adornato and set up on the second floor of Palazzo Lanfranchi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geology and archaeology intersect in the engraved graphics of Fanelli who proposes with his works an itinerary that has its dominant theme in the exploration of time and its manifestation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artist: Franco Fanelli<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor of Engraving Techniques (today Art Graphics) at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin since 1987, he has carried out his artistic research mainly in the sphere of traditional processes of engraved graphics (etching, acquatint, drypoint). His most recent solo exhibitions include those held at the Simone Aleandri Gallery in Rome (2012 and 2020), the Federica Galli Foundation in Milan (2018) and the Library of Lugano (2019). The extensive retrospective dedicated to him by the Istituto Centrale per la Grafica in Rome dates back to 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GOLF IS ART. Immagini e storie di sport<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition-whose title takes up the words of Rudyard Kipling (“Why Golf is Art and Art is Golf \/ we have not far to seek…,” 1898)-proposes a surprising and refined path that, between art and literature, tourism and fashion, accompanies the visitor in the discovery of the imagery related to golf, its gestures, and its landscapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through a selection of works granted by an important private collection, a gallery is composed of prints, drawings, posters and objects from the early modern age to contemporary times. From precious 17th-century engravings to the famous cartoons of Charles Crombie (The Rules of Golf Illustrated<\/em>, 1905), from 19th-century graphics to the plates of the great illustrators of the 20th century, from fine ceramics and porcelain to the plates of Les Joies du sport<\/em>, an edition that appeared in Paris in 1932, which among its many illustrations, by the artist Milivoj Uzelac, includes “Le Golf” with commentary by Henri Duvernois. An evocative selection of posters from the Salce Collection<\/a> also documents the imagery that in the first half of the 20th century included golf in the most elegant itineraries of Italian and international tourism. Golf is Art. <\/em>Images and Stories of Sport<\/em> was conceived on the occasion of the 50th edition of the City of Pisa Cup, an important event organized by the historic Tirrenia Golf Club<\/a>, and will be open to visitors during the period of the World University Golf Championships (July 20-23) organized by Cus Torino<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition is organized by the Museo della Grafica (Municipality of Pisa, University of Pisa) under the patronage of CONI, Italian Golf Federation, Golf Club Tirrenia, Cus Torino, University of Pisa’s Center for Rehabilitation Medicine “Sport and Anatomy,” Cus Pisa, Accademia di Sant’Uberto (Turin), Club delle Balette (Jesi), Europeana, University of Pisa’s University Museum System, Terre di Pisa, and with the collaboration of the National Museum Collezione Salce of Treviso-Regional Museums Directorate of Veneto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NAPOLEONE. STORIE TRA IMMAGINI E NOTE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition, dedicated to the image and myth of Napoleon in modernity, presents prints, books, documents and videos creating an original and evocative journey between historical memory and imagination. Noteworthy are the splendid selection of medals and prints, curated by Franca Maria Vanni and coming from the Medagliere Museum of Napoleonic Europe<\/a>, the postcards (photo sculptures) made in the early 20th century by Domenico Mastroianni and the precious papers from the Paper Museum in Pescia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition, which will continue with the section “Napoleon in Music,” curated by Alessandro Volpi, and “Napoleon in the Movies,” realized in collaboration with the Arsenal Cinema, is realized with the organizational support of the Athenaeum Museum System and with the patronage and collaboration of: Museo Medagliere dell’Europa Napoleonica, Fondazione Livorno Arte e Cultura, Fondazione Umberto Mastroianni, Cinema Arsenale, Museo della Carta di Pescia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IL TRITTICO DEL CENTENARIO – UNA COMMEDIA DIVINA – L’INFERNO DI CLAUDIO SACCHI<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the celebrations of Dante’s seventh centenary<\/strong>, the Museo della Grafica at Palazzo Lanfranchi in Pisa presents the exhibitions Il Trittico del Centenario, Una Commedia Divina, and L’Inferno di Claudio Sacchi<\/em>. Three exhibitions to compose an evocative journey dedicated to Dante’s poem, revisited through books, paintings, graphic works and multimedia products that document its fortunes in different historical moments and up to contemporary times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il Trittico del Centenario. Leonardo 1919 Raffaello 1920 Dante 1921<\/strong>, curated by Roberto Antonelli, Virginia Lapenta and Guicciardo Sassoli de’ Bianchi Strozzi, which has already been installed in the Villa Farnesina in Rome, offers a survey of the taste and aesthetics that presided in the early postwar period over the celebrations of the centenaries of Leonardo (1919), Raphael (1920) and Dante (1921).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Una Commedia Divina<\/strong> presents editions of Dante’s poem and other bibliographic treasures from the University Library of Pisa and the Library of the Scuola Normale Superiore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’Inferno di Claudio Sacchi<\/strong>, created in collaboration with publisher Daniele Olschki and already set up in Florence at the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno, presents a series of paintings made by Claudio Sacchi, the Pesaro artist among the most influential interpreters of contemporary figuration, inspired by some of the cantos of the Inferno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibitions are produced by the Museo della Grafica (Municipality of Pisa, University of Pisa) with the collaboration of: University Library of Pisa, Library of the Scuola Normale Superiore, Sistema Museale di Ateneo, Villa Farnesina-Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
